Hats are back in fashion this year, and if you’ve been on social media at all in the last 6 months you’ll know that hats are a great look in both the winter and summer months.
They are perfect from both a style point of view but also as a practical accessory. We have listed some of the best hat styles for 2022 for you to add to your outfits.
1. Pom Pom Hat
The Pom Pom hat is a classic style and is also known as a toque in Canada. This is a common style hat for the colder months and fits like a beanie with a fluffy bobble on the top. They are generally made of a thicker material and work great in single colours, including neutral tones that can work great in the fall and winter, and more colourful colours in the springtime.
2. The Fedora
Traditionally the fedora was a style reserved for men, but this is the case no more. A fedora is a bold fashion statement and can be combined with bows, folds and different colours to make it fit with any outfit.
3. Beanie
The beanie is a practical hat and is perfect for the winter months. Add in different styles and you have a unique hat that will keep you warm too. Some interesting different styles include the knitted ponytail beanie, which has an open top to put your ponytail through, which makes it a perfect choice if you like to wear your hair up when on walks or just heading to work when it is cold.
Some other beanie alternates include the slouchy beanie, which is very similar to its traditional cousin but has some additional fabric allow it to relax over your head when you’re wanting that chilled out look. This is perfect for going about town in when combined with your basic winter outfit.
4. Wide Brim Fedora
Wide brim fedoras, also called safari hats have become very popular in the last year. They have a high top similar to a traditional fedora, but with a wider brim that can curve downwards over your head. These are a better winter hat as they are made out of a heavier material, and are ideal to make an outfit pop, or even to hide a bad hair day.
5. Schoolboy hat
Also called the newsboy, the schoolboy hat can be worn both casually and to a classier event. The secret is to change up the colour and fabric depending on the event you are wearing it to. 6. Fur hat When it starts to get cold the traditional fur pill box hat is a classic style to bring out.
These become popular in the 60s after Julie Christie popularised the style in her film Doctor Zhivago, they are easily found in faux-fur as well as the more traditional look. Combine with a classy winter coat for the perfect evening time outfit.
