You’ve said ‘I do’ and now organising your big day can start. Whilst many women have been planning this in their heads for a very long time, many won’t have, and perhaps don’t appreciate how much organising is needed.
If you intend having a big wedding rather than a smaller or less formal day, there are many things you will need to plan. Here are 4 of the main ones.
Save the date
You will probably want your nearest and dearest to celebrate your big day with you, and so, once you’ve set the date, it’s a good idea to let them know. Sending save the date cards is a great, but informal way, of making sure that they don’t double book.
Around 8 weeks before your big day, send out formal invitations. This will give guests that don’t live nearby ample time to arrange suitable accommodation and will give you time to confirm numbers with your venue once RSVP’s have been returned.
Find the perfect reception venue
You may already have a good idea of the type of reception venue that you might like and so, it’s important to look around as soon as you can. Perhaps you like the idea of an historic 13th-century building like Hawkes Yard Estate, a beautiful wedding reception venue near Cannock.
Perhaps you would prefer somewhere like Tunnels Beaches, a venue with private beaches nestled within the cliffs of Devon. Regardless of where you live or what your preferences are, its important to find a venue that ticks all the boxes for one of the most special days of your life.
If you are not having a church wedding, many reception venues offer facilities to so you can have your ceremony on-site. Once you have decided on a venue, you will need to establish how the reception room will be decorated. Discuss lighting, music and a seating arrangement as well as sampling proposed food and agreeing on a final choice of menu.
Say yes to the dress
For many brides to be, the dress is the most important factor. The spotlight will be on you and so you want to look your best. There are thousands of different styles available in a range of different fabrics and colours.
Don’t rush your decision – you will know when you have found your perfect dress as it will make you feel confident and beautiful. You don’t have to go down the traditional route either. Many brides venture down the aisle rocking a 50’s swing dress or a pair of diamante converse.
Colour scheme
Choosing a colour scheme is essential to allow many other necessities to be ordered. It will allow you to pick bridesmaids dresses and organise flowers. Invitations, table plans, and even the ribbon on the front of the wedding car can all match your scheme if you want them to.
It’s a nice way to bring it all together and create a stylish and co-ordinated look for your special day.
